The event will be filled with AAPI food vendors, local AAPI merchants, and performances by local AAPI organizations. The fair will also include community-based activities and music. Attendees must purchase a ticket to attend the event. Meals for Unity's events are 100% volunteer-led, and all proceeds from the ticket sales will go directly to their meal fund, including purchasing ingredients for cooking and meals from local AAPI businesses. Red Silk Dancers performed two dances at the WE ARE ONE: 1982 Strike Commemoration. In honor of the historic 1982 Garment Workers Strike, The W.O.W. Project alongside Workers United, APALA, and Central Labor Council came together to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this historic event. The event included a host of interactive activities, speakers, dance, poetry, and song.

Saturday, September 4, 2021 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Market Street (between East Broadway and Division Street) Chinatown The Red Silk Dancers hosted a workshop and demonstration as part of Chinatown Arts Week. The Red Silk Dancers performed dances based on Chinese folk traditions including the fiery red silk and the dynamic sword dance, swaying fans from Yunnan province. Margaret Yuen, founder and director, demonstrated the basic steps and techniques of swirling the long “ribbons” in the air that resemble ocean waves, rainbows and flying dragons.
